Your data and privacy
Where your information lives, how to clear it, and what permissions the extension asks for and why.
- No account, no server, no ads, no analytics.
- Your shifts, calendar data and settings stay in your browser's extension storage.
- Nothing is sent to the developer.
The full legal wording is in the Privacy policy. This page explains what it means in practice.
What's stored on your computer
- Shifts you approved or added, and inservices.
- Busy time made from your calendar (event titles, dates and times).
- Events waiting in Review.
- Your settings (theme, colors, font, scenes, filters, and the city for Live weather if you use it).
- If you link an account, the sign-in token the provider gave (and for Microsoft, the account's email so you can tell which is linked).
- Calendar links you added. Treat these like passwords.
Data doesn't sync between computers. Removing the extension erases all of it.
What can leave your computer
| When | Goes to |
|---|---|
| You link and scan Google or Microsoft | That provider, to read your events straight into your browser |
| You add a calendar link | The address you pasted, now and every hour |
| You turn on Live weather and allow it | Open-Meteo: the place name you type and the coordinates of the place you pick |
Data & reset
Settings → Data & reset has four buttons. Each asks for confirmation inside the popup (never a pop-up dialog that can be cut off) and shows an Undo toast where applicable.
| Button | Removes | Leaves alone |
|---|---|---|
| Clear saved shifts | The shifts on your Shifts tab | Availability and Review items |
| Clear availability | All busy time, calendar-detected and manual | Shifts and Review items |
| Reset all settings | Dark mode, text size, colors, font, theme and scene effects go back to defaults | Shifts, calendar link and availability |
| Clear all saved data | Saved shifts, availability, Review items and the removed-from-calendar list | Your calendar link and settings |
To disconnect an account, unlink it in Calendar settings. That deletes the stored token and revokes it with the provider.
Permissions, in plain English
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| storage | To save your shifts and settings in your browser. |
| identity | To open the sign-in window when you link Google or Microsoft. |
| alarms | To refresh your calendar links once an hour. |
| Subbook site access | To add the search and filter bar, apply your look, and fill the form. It does nothing on other sites. |
| Google and Microsoft calendar access | Only if you link an account, to read events. Read-only. |
| Open-Meteo | Only if you turn on Live weather. |
| Other sites (asked at the time) | When you paste a calendar link to a site Bettersubbook doesn't know, your browser asks permission for that one site. |
The Google permission is the narrowest that works for reading events: calendar.readonly. Bettersubbook's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
