User guide / On the Subbook page
Search, filter and sort
A search box and a Filter / Sort button, attached to the Unfilled Requests table.
On Subbook's Unfilled Requests page, Bettersubbook adds one pill-shaped group above the table: a search box and a Filter / Sort button. It uses the site's own styling so it looks like part of the page, and it lines itself up with the page's tabs and pagination.
Search
Type in the box and rows filter live, as you type (there's no search button). It matches any text in a row: date, position, time, location or name.
Filter / Sort
Press the button for a panel with two sections. Nothing changes until you press Show results (accent-colored, bottom right). Close the panel with the × or by clicking outside.
| Control | What it does | Available when |
|---|---|---|
| Sort: Normal | The table's own order. Default. | Always |
| Sort: Best Available | Colors rows green / gray / red by how well they fit your schedule and floats green to the top. How it works | You have a linked calendar, busy time, or a saved shift |
| Sort: Shifts with overlap | Keeps only free shifts at the same place that start as yours ends, or end as yours begins. How it works | Same as above |
| Filter: Role | LG and/or HLG. Checking none means no filter. | Aquatics only (Learn to Swim has no role filter) |
| Filter: Location | CRCE, Freer, ARC Indoor, ARC Outdoor. | Learn to Swim only (the Aquatics panel is already full) |
| Hide permanent shifts | Hides repeating weekly shifts. | Always |
| Hide unavailable shifts | Hides rows that clash with your schedule. | Only with Best Available selected |
All checkboxes start unchecked. Checking one or more roles or locations means “only show these”.
Pills: your active filters
Every active filter becomes a pill beside the search bar, like Sorted: Best Available or Overlap only. Press the × on a pill to remove just that filter. It re-applies instantly, with no need to reopen the panel. When any pills are showing a Clear all link appears too. A short result line (for example “3 overlapping”) summarizes what you're seeing.
Clearing
The gray Clear button (bottom left of the panel) and the pills row's Clear all both reset your saved filters to default and reload the page. A real refresh guarantees the table always matches what's saved.
Two departments, two sets of filters
Aquatics and Learn to Swim share the same pages, switched by the department dropdown. Bettersubbook keeps separate filters for each department. When the table's contents or the department change, the panel and pills re-sync and that department's filters are applied to the new rows.
Things to know
- Sorting only reorders the rows on the current page. Subbook paginates, and Bettersubbook doesn't fetch other pages.
- Every sort starts from the site's own order, so results never depend on which sort you applied before.
- Best Available and Shifts with overlap turn on as soon as there's something to compare against, including right after you add a shift.
